Medical wellness at the Krimml Waterfalls in the Hohe Tauern National Park: a natural spectacle of health.

In the Krimml waterfall community, the effectiveness of water as a natural remedy has been proven by clinical studies conducted by the Paracelsus Medical University of Salzburg.

The factors of water volume, fall height (of Europe's highest waterfall), and impact combine to create an exceptionally fine spray with extremely high negative ionization. The droplet size of the aerosols is approximately 200 times smaller than that of an asthma inhaler, allowing them to penetrate particularly deep into the respiratory tract, where they can exert their cleansing and immunomodulating effects, primarily through negative ionization.

The effects on allergic asthma and COPD were investigated under the direction of Univ. Prof. Dr. Arnulf J. Hartl from PMU (so). In conjunction with various natural therapy approaches such as breathing exercises, chest mobilization, and daily 1- to 1.5-hour inhalations at the specially designated therapy area, even the hike to the site is considered a therapeutically effective measure.

With the "Hohe Tauern Health" label, developed in collaboration with PMU, local partner businesses have been certified and established a comprehensive health promotion concept. Offering corresponding nutritional options, allergy-free rooms, and the possibility of booking health insurance-subsidized therapy packages starting at €197 for a 7-day stay, the waterfall village has developed into a true "health resort" with significant and affordable potential for sustainable longevity.

Even a stay of 14 days or more has proven positive effects lasting up to 150 days. Therefore, a stay at the waterfalls offers a real opportunity to counteract "urban gray," a driving force behind lifestyle diseases.

Nestled in the impressive natural surroundings of the national park, the municipality of Krimml, together with the Krimml Tourism Association and the Hohe Tauern Health project, has decided to use this extraordinarily valuable phenomenon of waterfalls for active health promotion and to share it with the world.

The hospitality, coupled with the determined initiative of the 850 inhabitants, is a prime example of successful tourism development. A must for nature lovers for hiking, mountain biking, or simply for genuinely improving their own health. Thank you so much for this inspiration.
